Regarding the first end-game problem: why does white hane at A15 instead of clamping at B14?

Stephen - good one. B14 steals more points from black, but ends in gote. So it depends on the board position if it's worth playing B14. In this situation the endgame is probably played early in endgame, as both players have sente endgame there. Keeping sente in early endgame is probably worth more then the extra points white steals from black.
